CONTRACTOR RESOURCE CENTERPractical selection checks before a product reaches the job.
These guides help organize the questions to confirm before ordering. They do not replace current manufacturer instructions, engineering, project specifications or code requirements.
CUTTINGHow to choose a diamond blade.
Start with the saw and the material, not only the blade diameter. A blade that physically fits can still be wrong for the equipment, arbor, operating speed or intended material.
- Confirm blade diameter and arbor or mounting configuration.
- Confirm the saw type and the manufacturer's permitted operating speed.
- Match the blade to concrete, masonry or the specific material being cut.
- Confirm whether the selected blade and equipment are intended for wet, dry or either method.
- For reinforced concrete, confirm the blade is appropriate for the expected aggregate and reinforcement condition.
Before use, follow the current blade and saw manufacturer instructions, guards, PPE requirements and applicable jobsite safety procedures.
CORE DRILLINGWet vs. dry core bits.
Diameter is only one selection point. Core drilling also depends on the drill, connection, substrate, desired opening and whether water can be used at the work area.
- Confirm finished hole diameter and required drilling depth.
- Verify thread or arbor compatibility with the drill and adapter setup.
- Determine whether the work area and selected bit permit wet drilling, dry drilling or either.
- Consider reinforcement, substrate hardness and access around the drilling location.
- Check current manufacturer RPM, water-flow and operating guidance before drilling.
Do not assume a similarly sized bit is interchangeable across drilling systems. Equipment connection and operating limits matter.
ANCHORINGConcrete anchor selection checklist.
Concrete fasteners and adhesive anchors should be selected from the actual substrate and design requirement rather than only the fastener diameter shown in the catalog.
- Confirm base material and approved substrate.
- Confirm anchor type, diameter, embedment and fixture thickness.
- Check edge distance, spacing and installation-clearance requirements.
- For adhesive anchors, confirm hole preparation, cartridge/tool compatibility and cure conditions.
- Use current manufacturer technical data and project design requirements for structural or code-regulated work.
Store descriptions are selection aids only. Engineered anchoring must follow the applicable design and current manufacturer documentation.
DRAINAGE & STEELHow to measure a grate or trench opening.
For replacement grates and framed drainage components, the clear opening is only part of the measurement. Bearing support, frame condition and loading can determine whether a nominally similar grate will actually fit.
- Measure the clear opening in more than one location.
- Measure the available bearing ledge or frame seat on each side.
- Record existing frame dimensions and condition where a frame is present.
- Confirm required grate length, width and thickness from the actual installation.
- Identify the expected loading and environment before selecting material.
Freight-size components can be expensive to return. Confirm field dimensions and project requirements before ordering a size-specific grate or frame.
DELIVERYParcel vs. LTL freight.
Small contractor supplies can often move through parcel networks, while long, heavy or palletized construction products may require LTL or other commercial freight.
- Parcel is typically used when the packaged product stays within carrier size and weight limits.
- LTL may require a commercial address, delivery appointment, dock or liftgate depending on the destination.
- Jobsite, residential and limited-access deliveries can require additional carrier services.
- Oversize or unusually heavy products can require specialized handling beyond standard LTL.
- Provide an accurate ZIP code and receiving conditions when requesting freight pricing.
ACC Store confirms the actual shipping path after the product, quantity, destination and receiving conditions are known.
